Balances and Payment Amounts
What is my principal balance?
The principal balance does not include any interest. The payoff quote will include accrued interest from the date of the last payment up to, the "good through" date on the payoff quote given.
What is my monthly payment amount?
Your monthly payment amount is shown on your Account Activity page.
What is meant by Annual Percentage Rate (APR)?
The annual percentage rate (APR) represents the total cost of borrowing money, including all interest, fees, etc., expressed in an annual percentage rate.
How is the interest on my loan calculated?
The principal balance is multiplied by the interest rate listed on your loan contract. The total is then divided by 365 days. The final total equals your daily interest accrued.
So: (Principal Balance x Contract Interest Rate) / 365 = Daily Interest
Example: ($10,000 x 18%) / 365 = $4.93
How does my loan interest accrue?
Your loan is a simple interest loan, with interest accruing daily. Our video provides a brief explanation of how simple interest works and how payments are applied.

Making Online Payments
How do I know if my HDFS Billpay payment was received?

Is it important to make my payments on time?
Making your loan payments on time is an important factor in preventing unexpected – and unwanted – costs. The interest on your loan is assessed daily, so it’s important to make all your payments on time. When you make a late payment, you not only pay more in interest, but you may also have to pay late fees. Late payments happen more easily than you’d think. For example, lost mail or bank holidays can cause your payment to post late. And forgetting to make a payment can happen to anyone. MyHDFS.com allows you to set-up recurring payments, make a one-time payment, or enroll in paperless statements – all online. Visit the Payments page to begin managing your account online – and making sure your payments post on time, every time.
Managing Recurring Payments
What is an automatic/recurring payment?
An automatic or recurring payment is a regularly scheduled payment. This means the payment will automatically be taken from a designated checking account on a schedule (Bi-Weekly, Monthly) set by the account holder. If you would like to setup automatic/recurring payments, eCheck must be selected. The option to select credit card as your payment method is only available for single payments. Automatic/recurring payments can be stopped at any time by the account holder.
Please note: When the account is paid in full, it is the account holder's responsibility to stop the automatic/recurring payment.

Late Payments
I made a payment. Why am I receiving courtesy calls about a "past-due" amount?
Courtesy calls will be discontinued once your payment is processed for the entire amount due. Any past due amount on the account could generate payment reminder calls. Past due amounts are up to and including regularly scheduled payment amounts, interest, late fees or any additional fees assessed on the account.
If my payment does not clear the first time it is submitted, will it be submitted again?
All payments – whether personal checks, electronic payments, or payments made by phone – may be submitted more than once. Any fees associated with this process are your responsibility.
Does Harley-Davidson® Financial Services offer a grace period for late payments?
No. All payments should be made on or before the due date listed in your contract and on your statement. Any payment received after your due date is considered late. As a result, you may receive courtesy calls regarding that late payment any day following your due date.
Further, late fees will be charged if we do not receive your payment within 10 days from your due date.
How can I extend (skip) a payment on my loan account?
To submit a written request, visit the Contact Us page or call us toll-free at 1-888-MY1-HDFS (1-888-691-4337) to talk to a Rider Services Representative.
A Rider Services Representative will review your account to determine if you may qualify. They will also be able to answer more detailed questions you may have about how extending the payment term of your loan affects your account.
Please Note: This does not affect the terms of your contract. Because your loan is a simple interest loan, interest will continue to accrue each day on the unpaid balance from the date of your last payment until the next payment you make.
