SCRA and Military Allotment
ServiceMembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
Servicemembers Civil Relief Act is a federal law that provides a wide range of benefits and protections to certain eligible servicemembers. SCRA is intended to postpone or suspend certain civil obligations to enable servicemembers to devote full attention and all their energies to the nation's defense. Some examples of such benefits and protections are:
a. Temporary interest rate reduction at no higher than 6% on particular customer loans
b. Protection from repossession and legal actions during time of active duty service
NOTE: Customers eligible for SCRA are still obligated to make regular payments as contracted on time and SCRA does not protect against the reporting of delinquent payments to the credit reporting agencies.
