Frequently Asked Questions
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a well-vetted method to improve your account security and help protect your personal information. It provides an extra layer of protection on top of your MyHDFS password. MFA is increasingly being used by service providers around the country, such as banks, credit card companies, and even social media providers to strengthen the security of their systems. When MFA is enabled, the MyHDFS Login will require two factors for a successful login. The first factor is to log-in using your MyHDFS Username and password. The second factor will be a one-time authorization code sent to your device or email address.
Why is Multi-Factor Authentication required?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has finalized changes to the Standards for Safeguarding Customer Information rule (Safeguards Rule of 2003) under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). The updated Safeguards Rule amends the FTC’s 2003 Safeguards Rule and requires financial institutions to implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to protect customer financial information.
